Information
Location:
I am an on-location photographer, meaning I will travel to your home or a third party location for all photos. I feel children are more relaxed and comfortable in these types of situations.
Attire:
Babies- Newborns are best photographed in their birthday suit, it captures their delicate features better than when wearing an outfit. A diaper is also acceptable, however not one with a bold design on it. If you use disposables, you should have a solid diaper cover over it. A baby blanket should be on hand for the shoot.
*The best time to photograph newborns is within 2 weeks of birth*
Children & families- Solid clothes work best for portraits, this way they're not too distracting. For girls, a simple dress is also acceptable. For family shoots, all outfits should be complimentary to each other for the best results. During warmer months, consider going barefoot, as it creates a more natural, relaxed look. In cooler seasons simple dress shoes are appropriate, and should follow the same complimentary scheme. Sneakers should be avoided if possible. Please contact me for more examples of complimentary attire.
Maternity- Women should consider wearing form fitting, pre-pregnancy clothes during the shoot, as they show off the curves of pregnancy better than maternity clothes. The pants don't have to button, they will be folded down. Dresses will also work beautifully for maternity shoots. For nude or partially nude shoots taken place in the privacy of your home, consider body hugging undergarments in the shade of your skin tone.
*The best time for maternity shoots is during the 7th month of pregnancy. This way the belly has popped but mommy is still feeling pretty good. If this is not your first pregnancy and/or you've popped earlier, we can certainly schedule a maternity shoot earlier than your 7th month. Schedule a maternity and newborn shoot together, and receive 5% off your total order.*
Props:
I will bring some props with me but will also try to make use of whatever household items you have on hand. My stash of props is forever growing.
